Toddler Bed vs. Twin Size Bed

I can't make up my mind on this whole bed issue. Benton always looks so cramped up in his crib and of course we will need his crib in a few months for someone else, but I can't decide which way to go. Is it worth it to get a toddler bed? I do like the toddler bed because of the smaller size, but is it going to last more than a year?
If anyone has any suggestions send them my way!

For my first child she moved right from the crib to a regular size full bed and did fine. At first I was nervous about her falling off, but realized if you slide it close to the wall she can only fall off one side and it really isn't to far if she did. My second child moved into a twin bed that had a railing just cause that is what we had bought. My third just moved into a queen size bed (bunkbed with his brother) and does fine. We have it slide close to the wall again and he has not fallen off once. I think I would skip the toddler bed, just cause he will grow out of it so much faster. Sorry for the long comment. Hope that helps.

I would just go right to a twin bed. The toddler bed is nice because it is small, but you are going to have to move him to a twin bed when he grows out of it. Which probably won't be long. They come with rails if you are worried he will fall off.

sorry I missed your call the other day. I really don't have a functioning brain right now. I would go for a twin bed. Savanna does fine and I put it up to a wall and git a side rail for the other side and she doesn't fall off.

I'm going with the crowd go with the toddler bed. When we first moved Parker to his twin bed we did put pillows on the side, and he did fall out a couple of times, but when he fell out he didn't even wake up we just heard the thud. Just go check them out and see what will work best for ya.

Well, I bought a really cheap ($10) "CAR" toddler bed off of KSL for Noah first. We had to because my kids move ALL OVER THE PLACE when they are sleeping. Even in his twin bed now, against the wall, with a rail on the other side, he will still fall out the little part that is open. Its crazy, I know. I've already been checking toddler beds for Jade on KSL and there is tons for cheap. So I will for sure go that route this time also. Anyway, thats what works for us!!

Hi Suz! We chose to go the toddler bed route because we didn't have a lot of space, and didn't want to spend a lot of money. We got one like THIS ONE at Walmart when Clark was 19 mo. old. Clark still fits well in it and he is 4 now, and considered "tall". We also figured that since we were planning to have more kids, we'd get good use out of it. Anyway, it has worked for us. I think either way will work for Benton, it just depends on how much you want to spend and what kind of space you have.

I originally wanted to skip the toddler bed myself, but then when I found this one new for so cheap - I was persuaded otherwise. :)

Ive had both. It's mostly the fall off the bed problem that we have problems with. I am thinking the same thing with moving Will but he loves his crib!

So you know that I am in the same dilemma but I was thinking about a trundle bed and then you could pull out the lower bed and it wouldn't be a big deal if he fell off. Also, at Ikea they have this bed that is expandable for children and it is so cute. You can start it out shorter and then it expands into a regular twin and it isn't so high off the floor. I don't know.
